Meet Dr. Block

Bright students deserve more than homework help. They deserve strategy, structure, and someone who sees the whole picture.

If your child is intelligent but inconsistent, motivated yet overwhelmed, or capable but underperforming, you’re not imagining it — something isn’t clicking.

I specialize in helping middle school and high school students strengthen executive functioning, academic writing, communication skills, and sustainable study systems. My work is individualized, strategic, and grounded in clear expectations and measurable growth.

I help capable students become consistent students.

This isn’t traditional tutoring. It’s academic coaching designed to build disciplined thinking, repeatable systems, and lasting independence.

Experience & Approach

I believe education should be student-centered. After serving in an educational leadership role, I chose to return to direct student work because that’s where real impact happens. One student at a time.

My background is intentionally diverse: English, math, and science instruction, academic writing, American Sign Language (ASL), and college-level Communications and Public Speaking. I’ve worked with twice exceptional students, homeschool learners, students with learning differences, and those who simply need steady, meaningful guidance.

That breadth allows me to see patterns across subjects — not just assignments — and to tailor support to each student’s strengths and gaps. As a parent, I understand capable students don’t need more pressure. They need clarity.

What Families Can Expect

Students describe me as engaging and direct. I’m warm, but I hold high expectations. Each session includes clear structure, steady accountability, and a touch of humor.

We build repeatable systems.
We break down complex assignments.
We strengthen time management.
We develop confident communication

The goal isn’t short-term grades.
The goal is confident, capable learners who know how to think for themselves.

If you’re seeking individualized academic coaching, writing development, executive functioning support, college essay guidance, or structured homeschool enrichment, you’re in the right place.
